I know, I know – it’s not realistic or recommended to map out your Camino. But, when you have two Type-A individuals who happen to own a small business, how can we not make a plan?
It had been in the back of my mind to do something special and memorable for our 20th wedding anniversary. Walking the Camino Frances, 790 km or 500 miles, to celebrate our June anniversary was initially very appealing to me. However, we own a small business and it is not realistic to think that we could be unplugged for over a month. Our Camino will have to include a weekly break in order to catch up on work, necessitating a schedule to coincide with good electrical outlets and wifi.
In all my hours of research, I didn’t find any information about working from the Camino. It seems that most Pilgrams are on holiday, between jobs, or retired. I love the idea of leaving my normal life behind in order to garner the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual lessons from the journey. While we will not be enjoying the purist aspect of the Camino, we will do our best to make the most of all the Camino has to offer.
Stay tuned here for all the minute details. We are laughing now knowing that we will have to be flexible, but we’ll soon find out how well we do! “You don’t find the Camino, the Camino finds you.”
